There is power in knowledge and confidence in knowing what is going on with us. That’s why I implement visual aids, questionnaires, videos and recommended books into our sessions . I use these to help you not just heal emotionally, but to truly understand and answer those common questions we tend to ask ourselves: “Am I crazy?”, “Why am I acting this way?”, “What’s wrong with me?”, “Am I the only one that feels this way?” I will help you make sense out of all the confusion, providing you with the latest research in trauma and its impact on the brain. Plus, I will teach you why our bodies and minds do what they do when exposed to trauma. Like psychiatrist and author Daniel Siegel said, “You have to name to tame it.”
Naming an emotion and then educating ourselves about it begins the process of self-regulation. When we understand something, we can tolerate it and even change the impact. I encourage all to read and continue learning out side of therapy to gain faster results.
